Kickstarter! It's kind of a big deal in the self-publishing industry. For those who don't know, Kickstarter is a platform where "creatives," such as authors, gain financial support for their project, specifically a book, to either begin the project or bring the project to the masses. In other words, authors may do a Kickstarter campaign to get funding to finish, print and distribute their book(s).
In my naiveté, I likened Kickstarter campaigns to a fundraiser; however, I think it may be more accurate to liken Kickstarter campaigns to "pre-orders." Considering, some authors rely on pre-order sales to finish, print and/or distribute their books.
Another thing I recently learned is that supporting a Kickstarter campaign can help an author "do good!" And that is exactly what S.R.D. Harris, multi-published author of Future Miss President, Teddy Only Wants Spaghetti and Bella Loves Her Umbrella, is doing with her upcoming book, Gracie's Grace.
